Contentful · product prototype

The page is visible. Its content structure should be, too.

PageOps Contentful Assistant connects a rendered webpage to the entries, fields, assets, locales, and environments behind it—so content teams can find the right place to act.

This is a product prototype using fictional Northstar Systems content and a dedicated Contentful test space. It illustrates a working foundation for customer-specific implementations.

The editorial problem

One webpage can depend on many content entries.

A heading, hero image, call to action, and reusable section may belong to different Contentful entries. An editor can see the webpage but still need to search through content types and references to find the field responsible for a change. Locale and environment differences add another layer to that search.

The prototype brings that content structure into the browser, alongside the rendered page. It supplies a page-level view and direct Contentful destinations while the editor keeps the visual context.

Connecting page and content

Rendered markers supply the missing link.

Contentful Inspector Mode attributes identify the entry, field, and locale associated with a rendered element. Additional space and environment metadata makes the editor destination precise. The assistant reads those markers, groups repeated occurrences into a unique entry inventory, and preserves the visible fields and locale context.

In the public demonstration, 12 rendered entry-marker occurrences resolve to four unique entries. Nine markers identify fields. Switching the fictional site from English to French also updates the rendered locale metadata.

Your content workflow

Find, inspect, highlight, and open.

01

Discover entries on the page

Open the assistant on a configured webpage. Review the detected entries and assets with field, locale, space, and environment context.

02

Inspect content state

Delivery API content supplies published values. With Preview API access, the assistant can compare the latest available field values and show draft or changed content.

03

Locate the visible component

Use Show to highlight visible occurrences of the selected entry or asset. Repeated components are grouped so the editor can understand where the same content is reused.

04

Open the exact resource

Open the matching entry or asset in Contentful, using its space and environment. The signed-in Contentful account controls the available editing actions.

Locale and reference context

Review what is present before making a change.

Locale coverage identifies missing direct field values and shows fallback configuration. It helps editors investigate inherited or incomplete content; it does not evaluate translation accuracy. Referenced content returned by the APIs can be reviewed with published or preview-only context.

Published-versus-preview comparison works at the content-value level. It is distinct from a screenshot comparison or a guarantee that every value has been rendered by the frontend.

The current extension reads content and opens destinations. It does not publish or modify Contentful entries. API tokens are configured separately and are not included in the public demonstration or extension package.
